"Catch Bay De Noc Walleye"
Little Bay de Noc is known for the fantastic walleye fishing that it offers. It is centrally located in the south central Upper Peninsula of Michigan with the towns of Gladstone and Escanaba resting along the shores of the Bay.Fishing Fever Charters takes out walleye charters on the Bay. Fishing season for walleye begins on May 15th, and I take out charters until ice up which is usually in the first part of December.
The primary tactics that I use to catch these fish are crawler harnesses, crankbaits, or jigging with leadhead jigs. Planer Boards are also used. I use them to pull the lures away from the boat, spread the lines, and cover more water.
Walleye fishing begins on May 15th, which is one of my favorite times of the year to fish. Fishing is good this time of year because it is Post-Spawn.
Large numbers of walleye move in and spawn because of the natural shallow reefs and the many rivers that run into the Head of the Bay.This Post-Spawn action means a lot of hungry walleyes in a small area.
The summer months also produce good numbers of fish.We key on different areas this time of year. I target deep water points and reefs with deep water near by.
Fall fishing is done most of the time in the inner bay. I call this time of year "Trophy Time" because your chances are better to catch that 10 pounder. The reason for this is, those Big Boys cruised around the main lake all summer feeding on high protein alewifes and other bait fish. They come back to the bay to feed before ice-up and also stage for the spawn in the spring again.
