Stannard Rock is located 40 miles north of Marquette in Lake Superior. It takes us about 60 minutes to reach the Rock when leaving from the Upper Harbor in Marquette. When approaching the rock, about 10 miles away, you begin to see the light house that is located there. The only other structure protruding the water is a rock the size of a large boat. The structure underneath the water looks like a underwater mountain range with reefs and drop offs. It is a underwater fish sancturary. Fishing at Stannard Rock can only be described as awesome, something that must be experienced.

The technique used to catch these lake trout consists of casting large spoons at shallow underwater structures with spinning tackle. A lot of this can be achieved by sight fishing. We also use jigging techniques over deep water structures with three ounce jigs tipped with a piece of cut bait; this is also achieved with light-spinning gear to give you the thrill and excitment of hooking and reeling in your own trophy Lake Trout. Trophy lakers can also be caught by the traditional methods of downrigger fishing. Most customers prefer the spinning tackle techniques because it offers a more hands-on experience. The area of Stannard Rock is a massive structure with many reefs and pinnacles. We move from reef to reef throughout the day to optimize our catching potential. Big Lakers Stannard Rock

This is a 10-hour trip. We leave from the Upper Harbor at 6:00 a.m. and return at 4:00 p.m. The trip takes about one hour there and one hour back, which leaves eight hours of fishing enjoyment. Fishing Fever Charters has reduced the travel time because of our new boat.

Trips to the Rock are limited to a maximum of four customers plus the Captain. I limit the number of customers on this full-day experience for your added comfort. Charters going to the Rock begin in May and continue through October. As with every Fishing Fever Charter, cleaning and packaging of your catch is included.
