I do this by updating my website, finding new work, or exploring new styles that I’d like to introduce into my portfolio. I prefer big, cohesive projects to one-off experiments, so I decided to start a blog featuring a drawing a day about my favorite spots in Cleveland. I grew up in LA and moved to Cleveland after school to work for American Greetings. I’m sure you know that there’s a negative stigma associated with rust belt cities like Cleveland and Detroit, and I was prepared to really dislike the city. Last year I came upon one of these dry spells just as spring was coming around (in Cleveland, that means you’ve been cooped up for months of cold and gloomy winter).
