The self-taught bait rigger traveled the world fishing for marlin, bluefin tuna and other game fish. Hayden shipped trolling baits throughout the world through his company, Splittails Trolling Baits in Riviera Beach, which he operated from 1976 until 1992. Charlie Hayden, a pioneer in rigging trolling baits for offshore fishing who is credited with inventing the split-tailed mullet, died Friday in Jupiter following complications from surgery. The intent of the law is to discourage movement of species from one habitat to another. The "Quoted" regulation applies to only "OPEN" water fishing like the Delta and the "Open" rivers. The activity of bait bucket biologists has created problems all over our nation. Using live wells to keep fish fresh might be difficult sell to persuade a judge. The "Private" lakes are exempt from the DFG regs. All of the fish from Del Valle are farm raised Trout. Hey there Cliff, If all of your fish come from Lake Del Valle, that rule does NOT apply....

Fishing report for May 10
The crappie fishing remains excellent, with big fish being caught on jigs and minnows along spawning banks. The walleye fishing also has been outstanding, with limits of fish being caught on jig heads tipped with live bait on the flats.
