Ph lowering in a ten gallon tank?
I have identified ten gallon tank with a male Betta. I have several plants (Java Moss, Java Fern Philippines, Windelov Java fern, Ludwigia Brevite, Hybrid Aponogenton) and I want to add some Otto cats. The problem is that my Ph is quite high, at least 8.2.
Peat (peat moss) to your filter, this is about a year and used to be a way to neoans and some other fish to breed. This will naturally acidify (lower pH) and softens water. Be prepared for some dark water.

Aquarium Fish Hiding Places
Though we may need to use bare tanks for specific reasons (such as spawning or quarantining) on a short-term basis, time and experience demonstrate that fish not only exhibit fewer signs of stress , but also become more outgoing and demonstrative... The thoughtful placement of a moss-covered rock, an interestingly shaped hunk of driftwood strewn with Java fern or even a ceramic cast of a sunken ship can contribute a lot to the look of an aquarium as well as cater to the needs of your fish. Life in such barren surroundings is clearly not an ideal situation for humans — and the same is true for our fish. There is a wide variety of hideaways and refuges available for aquaria.FS or Trade: Java Fern Windelov and Anubias Nana Petite
to be honest, weeping moss does not really grow much differently than others (trust me, I have tons of moss growing experience) - it's all in the tank conditions as to how it will come out. I usually trade my moss by the dry ounce (when you weigh the moss after squeezing most of the water out), which is about what other hobbyists consider a softball size portion water logged. I have a large amount of jumbled moss that used to be flame, taiwan, weeping, xmas, etc, we could trade for at least one of each of your low/med light plants. this past year there was some slime mold and GDA in this tank, but the oto's and snails cleaned it up long ago.
Fern Driftwood
I pretty much have my dream fish, I just don’t have the dream aquarium setup to go with them. As for stocking them, I like the smaller corydora species, plecos, otocinclus and hara hara catfish. Small, I know, but I like smaller fish. I like danios, rasboras, tetras and other peaceful dither fish for the open space above the decorations. that’s the plant i wanted with my driftwood also. 10 gallon planted aquarium (low tech) My dream aquarium would be a 20 long.
